From VA work to building something of my own
I'd been working in marketing since 2018, so I understood the digital world. But understanding marketing and building your own income from scratch are two very different things. I had to figure most of it out myself.
For years I worked as a Virtual Assistant for a wide range of clients. It was flexible, it paid well, and it taught me a huge amount about how online businesses actually run.
But by last year I knew I needed something more. Trading time for money had its limits and I wanted to build income that could grow without me having to take on more and more clients.
So I started exploring. I tried Skillshare, Etsy, digital products, and online courses. Some things worked. Some didn't. I made mistakes, wasted time on the wrong platforms, and had to work out what actually suited my situation.
That's how Assistup by Donna started. Not as a polished business plan, but as an honest record of what I was figuring out along the way because I kept thinking, why isn't there a straightforward resource for women who just want to build something real?
